At Chesapeake Chariots, we celebrate the spirit of adventure found in Maryland’s trails and fields. Many of our supporters are passionate outdoor enthusiasts who have loved their ATVs, UTVs, or side-by-sides. These vehicles often carry cherished memories of family outings, hunting expeditions, and off-road explorations. As life evolves, many donors find themselves with well-maintained units that they no longer use but want to see enjoyed by others who share their passion.
Your donation not only breathes new life into these versatile vehicles, but it also contributes to our mission of uplifting the local community. Whether it’s a rugged Honda Rancher or a sporty Polaris RZR, your ATV or UTV can transform lives. Imagine providing someone with the means to explore Maryland’s beautiful landscapes or aiding farmers and ranchers in their daily tasks. Your generosity can inspire a new adventure, and we’re here to facilitate a seamless donation process for you.

How pickup works
When you choose to donate your ATV, UTV, or side-by-side, Chesapeake Chariots ensures a hassle-free pickup process tailored to your needs. In many cases, we understand the vehicle may not have a title, especially for off-road-only models. We can facilitate the pickup with an MSO bill-of-sale chain, ensuring everything is executed legally. Our team often utilizes a trailer or small flatbed for transportation. In some situations, we may coordinate a pickup directly from your property or hunting cabin, making it convenient for you. Just provide us with your vehicle's location, and we’ll take care of the rest—working with VIN or engine number identification to ensure a smooth process.
What drives donation value
The donation value for your ATV, UTV, or side-by-side can vary substantially based on several key factors. Hours of operation often tell a more impactful story than mileage, especially for 4-stroke ATVs, as more hours indicate heavy use but can also reflect the vehicle's condition. Well-maintained equipment with complete service records tends to fetch a higher value on the market, while cosmetic wear like dents or plastic fade can lead to a discount. However, if the vehicle is still operational, it can command a premium. Even non-running units can provide parts value, making your donation worthwhile.
Documentation you need

Maryland specifics
In Maryland, the DMV has specific regulations regarding the titling and registration of off-road vehicles. Many ATVs and UTVs used solely for recreational purposes may not need a state title, but a bill-of-sale is typically required for transactions. For vehicles previously registered as highway-use models, having a title simplifies the donation process. Chesapeake Chariots is adept at navigating these local laws, ensuring your donation contributes positively to our community without bureaucratic hurdles.
