At Chesapeake Chariots, we proudly accept nearly any vehicle, whether it’s drivable or not. Whether you have an old sedan sitting in the driveway, a pickup truck that’s seen better days, or even a boat collecting dust at the marina, your donation can make a meaningful difference. Our program provides essential funding to support local residents in accessing benefits programs like SNAP and Maryland Medicaid. So, if you’re looking to declutter and help your community at the same time, we’re here to help you through the donation process, no matter what type of vehicle you have.

Condition guide
When it comes to vehicle donations, Chesapeake Chariots accepts vehicles in various conditions. If your vehicle is running, it’s typically the easiest to donate, as it may be resold quickly at auction. However, even if your car isn’t operational, it can still qualify for donation. Many non-running vehicles are picked up, salvaged for parts, or recycled to benefit the community.
It’s essential to note that vehicles with salvage titles, or those that have been significantly damaged, are still eligible for donation but may have limitations on how we process them. If you’re unsure about your vehicle’s status, please reach out to us. We can help determine whether it’s a fit for our program!
Title status
| Title status | Accepted? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| clean title | yes | A clean title vehicle is ideal for donation, making the process straightforward and efficient. |
| salvage | with restrictions | Salvage title vehicles are accepted, but we may evaluate them on a case-by-case basis due to condition. |
| rebuilt/reconstructed | case-by-case | Vehicles that have been rebuilt or reconstructed will need to be assessed individually to see if they meet our criteria. |
| lienholder present | case-by-case | If a lien is present on the title, we will need to discuss further steps to ensure proper donation. |
| missing title | case-by-case | Donations without a title are possible but will require additional documentation and discussion. |
